We
are delighted to learn that the government will be allowing adults to take part
in indoor singles competitions in Tier 1/2 areas from next week. TennisUK' s
primary focus is the provision of competitions for adults and older junior
players, which means that we can now stage Men's and Ladies Open competitions
once again.
Our plans are as follows:
- In the past 24 hours, we have added Men's and
Ladies Singles events to our Christmas Indoor Tournament at Sutton. These will
be ADULT PRIORITY events
(players who are 19 or over will be accepted first). For more information
regarding this tournament and to make an application, please click here - All of our existing 18&U events have now
been amended so that players who are currently 18 years of age will now be able
to apply (this was not allowed under the previous Covid regulations). For
details of our one-day
18&U weekend events, click here.
For the 18&U events at our Christmas
Indoor Tournament at Sutton, then please click the link in the
previous paragraph -
From 9th January 2021, the
majority of our one-day indoor weekend competitions at Sutton Tennis Academy
will be Men's and Ladies events. Until 3rd January we are
committed to running junior events as this was all we were allowed to stage
under the previous Covid regulations. Events from 9th January onwards will
start to appear on our website once tennis centres re-open next week and we
hope to be in a position to publish event details from the 2nd week in December - We are intending to resume our two-weekend Grade 3 SuperSeries
competitions, from mid-January. Details will be published to
the "Featured Competitions" area of this site once court bookings have
been confirmed
Sadly there are still limitations in place for adults who live in
Tier 3 Covid areas and such players are NOT ALLOWED to travel to indoor
competitions in Tier 1/2 areas. Hopefully these restrictions will be lifted in
the new year.
Do remember that unlike
competitions entered via the LTA website if you enter any competition via this website then we do not make any charges if you decide to cancel from an event prior to the published
withdrawal deadline. We only charge entry fees if you
are accepted for a competition and the withdrawal deadline has passed.
I look forward to receiving your
applications.
Regards.
