TSUK is pleased to confirm that applications are now being accepted for several events and tournaments taking place during September and October 2011 - for players of all ages and standards.
The
Powder Byrne Mini-Tennis Trophy - is a national level GRADE 3 tournament open to all
players in the country. 8&U (mini-red) and 9&U (mini-orange) qualifying
events have been staged at 16 UK venues in September and October and
applications for the first few events will close shortly. The Powder Byrne
Trophy is one of the largest tournaments of its type in the UK and some great
prizes are on offer to those players who qualify to the final stages which will
be held over the weekend of 17th/18th December. The "£1000.00
touchtennis '"Babolat" 'US Open' tournament" is a ONE-DAY
non-LTA tournament taking place on Sunday 11th September at the LTA National
Tennis Centre in Roehampton. touchtennis is a fast growing
alternative to the game of Lawn Tennis and is played on a smaller court with
soft balls to minimise the benefit of power and maximise the skills of strategy
and touch - a real leveller with some innovative rule variations. This
tournament is open to all players aged 16 & over and more than £1,000 in prize money is on
offer. Our ever-popular MENS OPEN
SUPERSERIES programme includes the following THREE competitions
in September and October: After a successful pilot event in July, Wargrave LTC will be staging its
second Mens Open SuperSeries tournament on the above dates. Please note that
play at Wargrave starts from 12:00 noon on each of the four days). With recently
resurfaced courts and a new clubhouse this is an excellent competition
venue. All SuperSeries tournaments take place at WEEKENDS only and are GRADE 3 competitions
offering all players at least TWO matches per event and up to FOUR matches in
the main draw. Prize money is paid to the overall winner and runner-up. The following competitions will be staged during the OCTOBER HALF TERM
PERIOD: The Teddington
Open Tournament
will take place from Monday 24th to Saturday 29th October. This popular
Middlesex GRADE 4
competition includes junior events from 10&U up to 18&U plus Mens and
Ladies Open categories. Doubles and consolation events are intended too. The Carshalton
Open Tournament also takes place from Monday 24th to Saturday 29th
October. Taking place in Surrey within easy reach of the M25, this GRADE 4 tournament also
caters for adult and junior players (10&U to 18&U) and is now an
established part of the Surrey tournament calendar. The Sutton
Tennis Academy Autumn Open Tournament takes place from Sunday 30th
October to Saturday 5th November. This GRADE 3 daytime tournament
will take place on outdoor clay courts (although acrylic courts may be used for
some events).
-
EVERY WEEKEND
One-day indoor and outdoor events taking
place at Sutton (Surrey), David Lloyd Southampton, the LTA National Tennis
Centre in Roehampton and David Lloyd Hatfield (Herts). Programme published to
the end of November 2011. All events take place at the weekends.
Matchplay events are run in several age groups (minimum rating of 10.2 required)
and provide an excellent means of match practice for both adults and
juniors against opponents of similar standard. Results are submitted to the LTA
for ratings purposes and the programme has now been established for 9
years. Matchplay events have become
increasingly popular over the last few months and an early application is
recommended. Please remember that you may cancel any application
without charge up to the published cancellation deadlines (4:00pm on the Tuesday
prior to each event). Players and parents are reminded that applying for
multiple events on the SAME DAY (within the TennisUK matchplays.com programme)
IS permitted – our system ensures that no player can be
selected for more than one matchplay event/venue per day. Players submitting
multiple applications stand a far greater chance of selection.
Please visit
www.tennisuk.net now to make an online application for any
of these competitions. DO remember
that unlike some other tournaments, we do not charge you when you make an
application for an event. We only bill players once they are
ACCEPTED for a competition. Cancellations are also
permitted without charge (up to stipulated deadlines) for ALL of our
competitions. We look forward to receiving your applications to these tournaments and
wish you every success with your tennis over the next few months. If you need any further information then please do not hesitate to contact
us by email or telephone. David Fuchs Tennis Services UK
