The
Tunbridge Wells GRADE 3 Indoor tournament (Kent) will be taking place this
year, between Monday 19th and Saturday 24th December. The
tournament, now in its 14th year includes Ladies Open, Mens' 35 & Over and Mens'
Open categories. Unlike
many tournaments, the Mens’ Open event uses a three† stage
PROGRESSIVE draw and players are placed into a section according to their LTA
rating. Players who reach the last round of the pre-qualifying &/or qualifying
sections automatically qualify to the next section allowing opportunities to
play higher rated players. Prize money is paid to the eventual winner and
runner-up in the main draw. Many grade
3 competitions use a single draw section where players of vastly different
standard meet in the first round. The format used at Tunbridge Wells in the Mens'
Open event helps to avoid this and the competition is therefore suitable for
players of ALL ratings and generally attracts players aged from their mid-teens
upwards. The Mens’ Open event also has a much higher capacity than most grade 3
Mens’ Open events and at least 80 players are likely to be accepted. We are also
running a Mens’ Doubles event too. If sufficient applications are
received for the Ladies Open event, it is intended to stage this as a
progressive draw too. If you
would like to make an application then

forward to your application and hope to see you at Tunbridge Wells.
